Rheinmetall Automotive books first UpValve order
Variable valve train going into series production in China
Pierburg GmbH based in Neuss (Germany), a subsidiary of technology group Rheinmetall, has received an order worth over €90 million for its new variable valve control system UpValve. Production of the valve trains, which are also manufactured at the automotive supplier's Neuss plant, will start in 2019.

Rheinmetall Automotive with new earnings high
Rheinmetall Automotive again enhanced its business volume in an increasingly challenging market environment in 2018, generating sales of €2,930 million, an increase of €69 million or 2.4% compared with the previous year. When adjusted for currency effects, the growth is 4.2%. By comparison, the global production of light vehicles declined by 1.1% in 2018.

Pierburg China awarded “High Unit Productivity Enterprise” by Kunshan government
Pierburg China Co., Ltd., a wholly foreign-owned enterprise of Rheinmetall Automotive China, was awarded the honor of “High Unit Productivity Enterprise” and a prize money of 1.2 million RMB by the Kunshan municipal government. Mr. Massimo De Nard, General Manager of Pierburg China, attended the ceremony and received this award.

Rheinmetall Automotive with components for electric vehicles and combustion engines
Auto Shanghai is taking place from April 18 to 25 at the National Exhibition and Convention Center in Shanghai, China. Rheinmetall Automotive AG will be exhibiting in Hall 5.2, Stand 5BE151. The over 100-year-old German tier 1 supplier with the Kolbenschmidt and Pierburg brands, is displaying components and system solutions for emission reduction and efficiency enhancement on combustion engines as well as for the electromobility segment all under the motto E³.

Maximum design flexibility when casting
KS HUAYU AluTech GmbH has introduced a newly developed casting process onto the market. This joint venture between Rheinmetall Automotive and China's HUAYU Automotive Systems has developed a production process for the new Chinese plant in Guangde, one that is particularly suitable for highly complex engine block geometries and electric motor housings.

KS HUAYU investing in new production shop
Long-established castings specialist stepping into e-mobility sector
KS HUAYU AluTech GmbH is extending the Neckarsulm production capacities with a new 5,000 square meter production shop for structural parts in aluminum. The move is mainly in response to current orders in the new-product and driveline segments.

KS Kolbenschmidt GmbH, a company of Rheinmetall Automotive AG (Rheinmetall Group), has been awarded a contract by a major European and North American truck manufacturer. This project follows up on already delivered steel piston assemblies and cylinder liners and has a lifetime value of over €290 million.

Rheinmetall Automotive to supply electric vehicle components in China
Rheinmetall Automotive has, together with its Chinese joint venture partner HUAYU Automotive Systems (HASCO), opened yet another production location. Around 16,000 square meters, the new plant of HASCO KSPG (Guangde) Nonferrous Components Co. Ltd. is situated in Guangde in the Chinese province of Anhui, northwest of Shanghai.

Rheinmetall Automotive in South America
Own piston production base in Brazil for 50 years now
Domiciled close to São Paulo, the Brazilian piston production plant of auto-industry supplier Rheinmetall Automotive is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. The first location of KS Kolbenschmidt, founded back in 1968 in Santo André, also not far from São Paulo, proved insufficiently expansible after only a few years. So, for reasons of capacity, production moved to Nova Odessa, north of São Paulo, in 1986.
