Keep on running. This does not necessarily apply to today's coolant pumps which hinge their output on the operating condition and demands of the engine, thus saving two to three percent of fuel, and, concurrently, contributing to the preservation of the environment through reduced emission.
Why should an engine require maximum cooling already on starting it up after a cold wintry night? This is where electrically operated pumps come into play which run independently of the engine and supply coolant only when it is actually needed. A positive side effect: By cooling the engine only as required, after a cold start, the car's heating system responds more rapidly to quickly build up a comfortable climate inside. It is also possible to cool critical engine components by using the self-sufficient run of the pump after switching-off the vehicle.

Since starting the first series production of the type CWA 200 in 2004 the pump range was further extended and continuously optimized. CWA 400 is based on the tried-and-tested principle of CWA 200, supplying more than double the hydraulic performance of the original version at the same dimensions. Due to the introduction of the 48-Volt wiring system the realization of even more efficient pumps in the future is possible.
For the medium capacity range, CWA 50, CWA 100 as well as the completely redesigned CWP 35 are available. Main applications are for indirect intercooling of supercharged combustion engines. For drive concepts of hybrid and electrical vehicles, the pumps also exercise varied cooling functions such as the cooling of batteries, DC/DC converters and power electronics.

This pump is chiefly used for cooling and heating functions that are independent of the main circuit, such as heating system support, exploitation of residual heat and park heating.
Additionally, the WCP also does an indispensable cooling job on turbochargers, exhaust gas recirculation systems (EGR's) and the cooling of power electronics.
